Huh!

Ok, this is about fashion, it’s bound to happen I suppose. I finally took the plunge with Smartphones, dodgy swimwear, regular exercise and buying a place in the year that was 39. Add buying on-line and clothes at that (not a book or something that didn’t require measuring hips). Very educational re credit card checks and waiting for parcels in a country where mail can get “lost”. Of course I haven’t worn any of the choice pieces I purchased.

I’m undeterred and still on the net-a-porters and club21s, waiting slightly obsessively for a sale so I can quickly snag an unwearable dress in a size I’m not quite sure will fit me. This is when I discovered the swimsuit that cannot be worn to swim. A fashion existentialist dilemma… no just ridiculousness at USD650. I had to go over the instructions twice when I read on swimsuit (yes it was described as a swimsuit):

To get the best from your Missoni beachwear we advise you not to wear it to swim“.

So apparently there are “swimsuits”, for an arm and a leg and both your kidneys that are not meant to be worn for well, swimming. Other blogs have been quite instructive-it’s for lounging under the sun with and just a cute outfit to have all round because.

I admit, I’ve paid lots of money for leather, I’ve tried to persuade my useless but very clever husband that there is a point to design and couture, I secretly covet(ted) a bag made by a Swedish “tanner” who uses reindeer skin. And no amount of buying from the local market and going on the Ethical Consumer and fair trade spiel is going to help…I’m one of THEM! But this takes the biscuit, I’m very disappointed in Missoni who I pegged as being more, well, you know. Just having more….

…Their ponchos are quite nice though, and only USD200.
